Do not buy this icemaker! After working with tech and warranty support, I'm not sure I can recommend buying anything from Nutrichef! First, the icemaker itself. It makes decent ice, when it makes ice at all. The mechanism that draws water into the area where the ice is made is flawed. It gets stuck in the forward position and requires me to jiggle the mechanism, turn off the unit and turn it back on. After a couple of successful passes, it gets stuck again. If you are watching it like a hawk, constantly jiggling the mechanism, you can get plenty of ice. Unfortunately, it requires too much babysitting to make it worth it. I hooked my unit directly to the water line, which was nice, until the float that is supposed to turn the water off when the reservoir is full failed to float and it continued to fill up and overflow several gallons of water on the floor. Luckily I was home when this happened and could turn it off. Had we been gone, it would have flooded the entire house! I unfortunately didn't return the unit in time (I've owned the unit for about 90 days), so was forced to use tech/warranty support. They have offered to either service or replace the unit, but I am required to pay for shipping both to and from the service department. The thing weighs 25 pounds. Shipping will cost half what the unit itself cost! I almost understand paying for shipping to the service department, but both ways? And for a defective unit? Unbelievable! I'm not convinced the new…
